Saturday as part of the 2nd qualifying phase of the FIFA World Championship: Qatar 2022, our Grenadiers (83rd) faced Canada (70th) on the lawn of the Sylvio Cator Stadium in a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius to the kick-off.

In the first period Cyle Larin taking advantage of a hesitation from the Haitian defense opened the scoring tothe 14’ to Canada’s advantage [1-0]. Despite several attacks from the Grenadiers, the "Canucks" dominated this first period with 61% possession of the ball. At the end of half-time, the score was still unchanged.

When back from the locker room, our Grenadiers showed us a lot more offensive and physical without however managing to break through the Canadian defense and equalize. However, Canada were less convincing against Haiti leaving the Grenadiers to shoot 6 times at the net including two shots on target.

The "Canucks" did most of the work, concluding this game with a minimum 1-0 victory.

The Grenadiers in the second period have revealed several weaknesses of the Canadians and everything remains possible in the second leg on Tuesday June 15, 2021 at the SeatGeek stadium in Bridgeview in the suburbs of Chicago who will decide who will qualify for the final round and where our Grenadiers absolutely must win victory to go to the final where to be eliminated in case of failure.
